My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.

Hi! My name is Candy Corn! I got my name not only because I am SO sweet....but  because my foster mom found me on the side of the road when she was on her way to a vet appointment with her other foster puppies and she lured me with candy corn! I was super skinny and all on my own, and I was scared. She tossed me some candy corn, and I scarfed it right up I was so hungry. It also showed me that I had nothing to be afraid of, so I was brave and went to the vet with her. They found out that all though I clearly hadn't been taken care of and I was skinny with fleas, I was in great health otherwise and SO very sweet. I was SO appreciative to be found by a kind person. I am a petite little thing, and probably mixed with a  smaller breed. The vet guessed I will top out about 40lbs so I will stay on the smaller size. I am heartworm negative and already microchipped and up to date on my vaccinations. I have also been dewormed and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. I love to give kisses and cuddle and I am very submissive. I get along great with other animals including cats and I am gentle so I would be great with kids! If you are interested in meeting me, I would love a forever family of my own! I will be spayed and the rest of my vetting completed on 10/21 so I could go home after that! Please fill out  an app or email my foster mom heather@savingtailsanimalrescue.org with any questions.

My adoption fee is $265 and it includes all my vetting up to date including spay, some food, leash, collar, treats and toys and some other goodies. Apps available at www.linktr.ee/starescue

Thank you!

Love Candy Corn.

All STAR animals come vetted, Up to Date (UTD) on age appropriate shots and testing, spay and neutered (if of age,) and microchipped.
AGE DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, most of the orphaned animals that come into our rescue looking for homes don’t bring birth certificates. Sometimes we know our pets’ ages. Sometimes we don’t. So we make our best guess based on the condition of their teeth and the veterinarians best guess.   BREED DISCLAIMER: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label . Microchips: For the safety of our dogs and peace of mind of our fosters and adopters, STAR microchips all dogs prior to adoption with Petlink Microchips. Please understand that all dogs MUST still wear a collar with ID tags (which include your current information) AT ALL TIMES. Please remember, our foster dogs are extremely important to us-- we will always take any of our dogs back, if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. Never surrender him/her to a shelter!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

We begin each adoption with the submission of the application. This step helps us assess the fit, and gives us general information.

2.

Approve Application

Part of approving the application for adoption is a vet check. To make this step go faster contact your vet to approve the release of record

3.

Home Check

Home checks are required and will happen prior to the meet and greet. The home visit can happen at the same time of adoption.

4.

Meet the Pet

The meet and greet is the last step. We will want to meet the family including your current dogs to ensure it will be a good fit.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

Pay the adoption fee via cash, check or PayPal. Complete the contract with our volunteer and you may take the pet home :)

Additional adoption info

Steps 3,4 & 5 may or may not be combined into one step, depending upon foster and volunteers availability as well as the foster animal being considered.
