My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Petey, a lively and playful adult dog who's always ready for a game of fetch or a brisk walk. His energy is infectious and can brighten even the dullest of days. His independence makes him a great companion for those who appreciate a pet that can entertain himself, but he's also always up for a good cuddle session. Despite his energetic nature, Petey has a calm side and enjoys quiet evenings just as much as active days. He's a well-rounded dog who would make a wonderful addition to any family. His playful energy and independent spirit are sure to bring joy and excitement into your life. Adopt Petey today and experience the unconditional love and companionship that only a pet can provide. In our care Petey has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Petey is now ready to for his new home. If you would like to adopt Petey come to the Escondido Campus.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
