My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Poppy

This sweet dog came to the BC SPCA Kelowna when her owner moved and left her behind with a roommate who was unable to have another dog. She is a sweet, playful and active gal. Poppy can be a little nervous at first meeting but we know she will quickly come around once she knows you're her friend. Once you've made friends with Poppy, she is just the biggest cuddle-bug. She has lived with another dog and enjoys playtime with visiting canine friends. This canine will quickly win your heart once she comes and lays her head on your lap. If you believe Poppy would fit into your life and home, please give her the chance to show her appreciation with her abundance of love and loyalty.

She will be a foster-to-adopt because she is awaiting her 11 Oct spay surgery and subsequent recovery.

If Poppy is the canine companion you've been waiting for, please complete an online Dog Pre-Adoption Questionnaire:

https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/

The Centre is open Tuesday to Saturday Noon - 4 pm (except for Stat Holidays).

Oh yes - she will have a more flattering picture coming soon.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
