Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Dexter is an 11-month-old German Shepherd/Collie Mix. He is the sweetest boy. Up for any adventure and always happy to snuggle or just hang out around the house. Dexter already knows a lot of manners (sit, stay, come, lay down, and does fairly well on a leash). He currently lives with 3 kids (6,9 and 11) and is fantastic with them. He has never been exposed to a cat, but we adopted him from a farm rescue where he lived with lots of other dogs, chickens, and horses.
While Dexter is amazing with our family, he can be unsure of new visitors to the house. With both my husband and I working from home and friends of the kids coming over weekly, we've realized that our setup is quite stressful for him and not ideal for any of us. Dexter is also leash-reactive and will need someone who can continue working to socialize him. Off-leash, Dexter loves other dogs, is very playful, and loves being in the company of other dogs. Dexter is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines.
This animal is being cross-posted for private rehoming by its owner. This animal is not in the care of Kitsap Humane Society and the staff at KHS cannot respond to any inquiries about this animal. If you are interested in adopting or leaning more about this pet, please contact lauren@smwa.net. Kitsap Humane Society is not responsible for any present or future damage the pet may do to a person, animal, or property. We encourage all prospective adopter to do their own evaluation. More about this shelter
Kitsap Humane Society is a private, nonprofit animal shelter. We rescue and rehome over 6000 pets each year. Every dog or cat leaves our shelter spayed or neutered and with complete vaccines and a microchip. We have been caring for animals in need since 1908 and envision a time when all adoptable pets have loving homes.
We are extremely proud of our exceptionally high “lives saved” rate of over 96%. Through our active adoption, behavior, foster, transfer, and veterinary programs, we are able to rehome every adoptable animal that enters our facility. No animal is ever euthanized for lack of space.
In addition to caring for and adopting animals, we also provide spay/neuter services to low income residents of Kitsap County, and provide Animal Rescue and Enforcement services to our surrounding municipalities.
