A puppy with joie de vivre!
Meet Thistle! Thistle (an orphan now part of our Crayola litter) is in a foster home in Spokane, WA and can be transported to your area (see information in the “Adoption from Path of Hope Rescue” section below).
Born on or about May 15, 2024, Thistle is a black, mixed breed puppy with a short coat, floppy ears, the cutest little white toes, and soulful eyes. A rescue from a Texas shelter, this delightful puppy is brimming with joie de vivre (an exuberant enjoyment of life). We expect Thistle to be a medium size adult dog in the 40-60 lb. range. Sweet, friendly, and affectionate, Thistle loves to snuggle up with you at the end of a busy, active day and shower you with kisses.
Thistle is a typical, joyful, active puppy who loves playing with sticks much bigger than he is. He will contentedly drag his sticks around the yard in a game only he understands. A happy-go-lucky puppy with a social personality, Thistle loves everyone he meets (adults, children, and other dogs) and wants nothing more than to play and snuggle with you. In the clumsy puppy stage, Thistle tends to barrel his way through life, all long legs and energy. He overflows with optimism and is convinced that all it takes is one more play bow to get his foster’s older dog to join him in his shenanigans (she may have told him off 50 times, but he knows that 51st try will win her over!). Now that he has gotten over his fear of it, Thistle will chase the foster’s cat, but he is learning to temper his exuberance around it.
Thistle is working on his skills. He spends several hours at a time in his crate, sleeps through the night, and is almost potty trained, giving cues when he needs to go outside. Thistle has started leash and obedience training. He knows his basic commands with a reward incentive and has good recall skills. Thistle is very food motivated and a good candidate to learn tricks or agility.
Thistle’s ideal home? Thistle would thrive in an active home where he would get daily walks and adventures suited to his energy level. While he would thrive as an only dog, another dog who would romp and play with him would make him deliriously happy. Thistle would love people to cherish, to snuggle with, and who will ensure he learns the skills that will make him a happy and well-rounded dog.
