My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Approx DOB: May 2024

Lebo (male, gray) was rescued by the fire department from a 4-inch wide 4-foot-deep drain on a farm in Carlisle. He was in that wet cold pipe for more than 24 hours. It took a lot of warm baths to bring him back up to temperature. As it turns out, he probably fell in that hole because he has mild cerebellar hypoplasia which means he wobbles a little bit on his back legs, especially when he’s walking, but he’s pretty good at running. He was treated for wounds on his neck and foreleg, fleas, worms, hypothermia, and severe ear infections.

Rue (female, tortoiseshell) was found in a tire well in Carlisle all alone. The finder took her in, gave her a warm dawn flea bath, good food and lots of snuggles. In care, she was closely monitored for a significant umbilical hernia. It did not seem to slow her appetite down however, she struggled to gain weight, even though she ate everything that was put in front of her. At 3 months she had hernia repaired and was spayed— it was a big surgery for a little 2-pound girl, but she handled it like the fighter. Over the next month, she quickly put on weight and grew stronger.

Lebo and Rue came into foster care within days of each other. After the standard two-week quarantine and deworming, they quickly bonded and helped each other grow in confidence and strength. While Rue is feisty and active and chases, just about everything she could hunt, Lebo is the lap cat who loves cuddling and belly rubs. They are both very food motivated and love to hunt in the fuzzy rug for an occasional treat. They also love wand toys, laser tag, and watching TV. These kittens would do well in any home as they grew up with many foster kittens and a 50-pound dog. They are gentle and loving.

If you are searching for a pair of fun and loving kittens, please apply!

Please note: Cats and kittens are social creatures and greatly benefit from being with other pets; therefore, kittens under the age of 6 months cannot be adopted as single pets.

All cats are vaccinated, dewormed, treated with flea preventative, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, microchipped, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption.

Adoption application, phone interview, home visit, and adoption fee required (+ PA Sales tax). Adoption fees are:
Baby (Kittens up to 1 year) = $125
Young & Adult (1-7 years) = $100

If you are interested in adopting a kitty(s), we ask that you complete an on-line adoption application to get the process started. To apply, simply go to www.furryfriendsnetwork.com / Adopt a Furry Friend / Adoption Application. You will receive a welcome email once your application has been assigned to a volunteer processor (this should be within 72 hours of submitting an application). If you do not receive such an email, contact catapplication@furryfriendsnetwork.com. Once your application has been processed (this can take approx. 10-14 days), we will arrange contact with the foster to schedule a time to meet kitties you might be interested in. We are an all-volunteer organization and appreciate your patience during this process.

More about this rescue

Furry Friends Network is a non profit, all-volunteer animal adoption organization. Our philosophy is to help those animals that did not ask to be born, that are often the result of human ignorance. Any animal, no matter its age, can offer love and companionship to the right person.

Furry Friends Network is not a shelter, but instead uses a foster home network to house the animals until permanent, indoor homes can be found, offering second chances at lifetimes of love and happiness. Furry Friends Network also works to help humans understand the importance of controlling the pet population through spaying and neutering.

Furry Friends Network relies on private and corporate donations to help fund our rescue operations and accomplish our mission - to save lives, one animal at a time. Since the organization's inception in 2001, Furry Friends Network has facilitated the rescue, and rehabilitation and placement of approximately 300 homeless dogs and cats into new homes each year. With your support, we can continue to accomplish this mission.

There are many thousands of animal rescue organizations, all working for the same purpose. We hope through our efforts, we will make at least a small difference, and save a few lives in the process.
