My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pepper (affectionately known as Pepperoni!): Your Blanket-Loving, Tennis Ball-Catching Best Friend Awaits!

Looking for a loyal companion who will snuggle up next to you, share cozy moments, and brighten your day with endless tennis ball fun? Meet Pepperoni, a 2-year-old pitbull and blue tick coonhound mix with a big heart and an even bigger love for blankets. This sweet boy is ready for a fresh start and is looking for a home where he can be your one and only! Could it be with you? Pepperoni is ready to shower his new family with love, loyalty, and a whole lot of tail wags. Don’t wait—apply to meet Pepper and see why he’s the perfect match for your home!

Hi there, I’m Pepper—but you can call me Pepperoni, all my friends do! I’m a 55-pound mix of Pitbull and Blue Tick Coonhound, and I’m 2 years old. My favorite thing? Blankets! I love to curl up in them, especially when I can snuggle next to you in bed. I’ll nudge close but also respect when you need your space—it’s all about balance, right? Oh, and tennis balls... a total must-have for me! I can spend hours chasing after them, or just holding one in my mouth while showing off my "sit" and "give paw" skills.

I did grow up with my brother, Scout, and we were a great team for 2 years. But recently, things got a little tricky, and I ended up getting a bit too protective over my toys. It happens. I think it’s best if I find a home where I can be the only dog, and really shine without worrying about sharing. Playing with other dogs isn’t always easy for me, but hey, that just means I’ll be all yours! The good people at Angel Dog Alliance will include 2 hours of in-home training for me to help me adjust - so we're all set!

My current family loves me a lot but they’re unable to keep up with what I need, so they’ve asked for help finding me a new forever home where I can get the attention, training, and love I deserve. If you’ve got room in your heart for a blanket-loving, tennis-ball-chasing, cuddle bug, I’d love to meet you! Let’s make each other’s lives a little brighter.

More about this rescue

Our mission is to save the lives of dogs facing euthanasia in high-kill shelters nationwide by pledging funds that enable rescues to take in, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need. On occasion, if we do not have a local rescue in place in the city the dogs are in, we bring them to Illinois to avoid their euthanasia. They are placed in boarding for vetting, once done, they are promoted for fostering or adoption.
