My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** Adoption Special - $50 OFF adoption fee sponsored by GoodCharlie ***

Hello. I’m Caliente, but you can call me Nacho if that’s easier to remember. Just look at my beautiful ginger tabby coat and my charming white shirt—I’ve got quite the dapper style! I’m a loving guy, but I’m also quite independent. That means I don’t need constant attention; I'm perfectly happy with a few toys and a cozy spot to play and nap. Just a few head scratches and I’ll reward you with some fantastic purrs that will brighten your day. So, if you're looking for a loving companion with a playful spirit, I’m your guy! I’m looking for a great human to share my love. If that’s you, I will show you how I catch a toy mouse or fuzzy ball, throw it up in the air, and maybe even bring it to you. Once I’ve worn myself out, I love to curl up on or next to my human for a nice snooze. Of course, you’ll hear a trainload of enchanting purrs as I do. When I come in answer to your call, I am looking for my belly rub reward. Don’t tell any other cat that I do that! My former mates told me never to be so responsive to human calls, but I can’t help it—I just want to be close to you. I’m very neat and like to keep myself super clean. I want to make my special human happy to have me around. So, can you sit still for a few minutes, let me check you out, and bond forever? I sure hope so because I want to get busted out of here ASAP! For more information about me, please email info@frastx.org

Thanks to GoodCharlie sponsoring Caliente, you can adopt him for only $75!

More about this rescue

Friends of Rescue Animals (FRAs) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. FRAs was founded in 2004 by 4 volunteers who wanted to support the Rowlett Animal Shelter. Our organization has grown to over 300 volunteers, and with this growth, we now support two municipal shelters -- Rowlett, TX and Garland, TX – and operate our own cat rescue program.

Our mission is to provide resources, programs and education to promote adoption and care of homeless pets in our community. FRAs’ vision is a world where every companion animal has a safe and loving forever home. We are a 100% all volunteer run organization, and our ability to help homeless animals depends on donations from the community and grant funding.

Our organizational programs include operating the volunteer program for both shelters, providing funding for heartworm treatments and emergency medical care, accepting cats from the shelter and citizens into our foster-based cat rescue, supporting TNR/SNR efforts for community cats and most recently funding dog transport initiatives. Our volunteers spend thousands of hours socializing and marketing the animals for adoption, which increases the number of animals with a positive outcome. FRAs has helped countless pets avoid euthanasia, find their forever homes and live longer, healthier lives.
