Dog Name: Saint
Breed: Lab Mix
Sex: M
Age: 4
Weight: 60
Medical Needs: none
Housebroken: Saint is doing very well. He is crated when I can’t be with him and is taken out to use the bathroom as soon as he comes out of his crate as well as about every 2-3 hours when out of crate. He has not had any accidents in the past 2 weeks.
Crate trained: Yes, Saint goes willingly in his crate for meals or a treat, and though he may attempt to complain to management for a few minutes if he can’t see you, he quickly settles down.
Good in the car: Yes, Saint is a perfect gentleman in the car.
Good on a leash: yes, so far we have only walked around the backyard on the leash, but he does very well.
Energy level: medium. Saint loves to lay on a dog bed, in or out of his crate, and chew on a bone or enjoy a treat out of a Kong but he loves to turn it up when he gets outside and run with his foster sisters.
Need a fenced in yard: No
Dog Friendly: Yes, other dogs bring Saint comfort and happiness. He has done very well with the resident dogs, playing and taking their corrections appropriately.
If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive home? Yes, Saint would be happiest in a home with other dogs.
Cat Friendly: Saint has staycationed with another foster who has cats and she said, “I can see him chasing and wanting to play with them when he settles in. I don’t see him wanting to nom nom [eat them]”
Kid Friendly: Saint is still unsure about people in general. Younger children make him a little nervous with unexpected loud noises and fast movements however he does well with my 4 yo granddaughter who is calm.
If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? 4 and older
Special Traits: Saint came to us from basically a hoarding situation in Georgia. He was raised in a kennel with several other dogs and he was not socialized. He is a sweet, timid boy who has not been exposed to much outside of a kennel, though we are working to change that. He takes treats very gently and wants to be with his person or other dogs. He is not food motivated but does eat his meals with no issue and enjoys treats.
Foster location: Newark, Delaware
