My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I’m Martin, a 1-year-old German Shepherd mix. I’m living with my foster family and my 8-year-old mixed breed foster sister, and we get along great! This is what my Foster parents have to say about me:

I’d do well with other dogs in my future home. I think I’d thrive in a home with a family willing to train me. I’m smart and full of energy, so I need some guidance to be my best self. They also believe I’d do well with kids (late elementary/middle school age) who enjoy playing and running around, as I love outdoor fun and toys! I’m usually calm and quiet, but I get bursts of energy to play for about 10 minutes before napping. I love cozy spots on the couch or bed, and I enjoy some `me` time in my open kennel. I’m snuggly and love affection and attention! I’m working on not being mouthy and jumping, especially when I get excited to see people. My foster mom says I can jump like a spring, but we’re practicing calm greetings. I’m also learning to sit. I can be shy with newcomers, but a few treats help me warm up quickly. I’m mostly house-trained and just need regular outdoor trips to avoid accidents. I’ve had a few while adjusting, but never in my kennel.
I LOVE food and am very treat motivated! I sleep quietly in my foster parents’ bedroom, in my kennel, all night. When kept in another room, I was too nervous but now I sleep peacefully until everyone wakes up. I’m sweet, loving, playful, and intelligent, and I would thrive in a home that offers training and playtime. I love my foster home, but I’d be even more excited to find my forever family!
