Forest is a half Border Collie / Black Lab mix, and I do not exaggerate when I say he is the smartest dog I've ever known. I got him through a customer one day; I fix A/C's, and he was scheduled for the pound when I said I'd take him in. His backstory is that he was owned by an elderly woman for just a year or two before she had to move to another state. She couldn't take him with her, so she dropped Forest off on her daughter, who was my client. The reason she couldn't keep him was due to her other two elderly dogs; forest simply had too much energy for their little old hearts. That doesn't mean Forest is bad with dogs. I've never heard him growl or be unfriendly towards my mother's dog. No resource aggression, no biting. He will run circles around you until your head gets dizzy, and he will chase feral, unfamiliar cats.
The reason I can't keep him is unfortunately the same as the elderly woman... I'm moving out soon, and I'm too poor to afford an apartment that lets me keep him.
