My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jackson! We believe Jackson is a husky/chow mix, weighing 62 lbs. He seems to like other dogs and would do best with an experienced adopter. He responds well to stern commands, and will walk all over you if he doesn’t see you as a leader. Jackson appears to hate being brushed, and presents an excellent challenge for anyone up for it! Jackson is confident and determined, and if you’re interested in adding him to your pack, please let us know!

Additional adoption info

The Marion County Dog Pound is now under the control of the Marion County Sheriff's Office and is located at 2252 Richland Road. We are required by law to hold a dog for 3 days to allow the owner to claim the dog. If it is not claimed, it will then be an adoptable dog. We will post all adoptable dogs on our Facebook page along with pictures. The adoption fee is $123.00 which includes the spay/neuter surgery, Heartworm tes, rabies, Intra-trac, and Dapp Vaccines, and a dog tag. We are a rescue friendly facility and do not charge a pull fee, rescues are more than welcome to make a donation when pulling a vetted dog but it is not required.

Dogs are as is. There are no health guarantees
Adopters are required to sign an agreement to spay/neuter the dog if not already done, the dog may be seized if any portion of the adoption contract is broken.

More about this shelter

The Marion County Dog Pound is a county facility that is ran by the Marion County Sheriff's Office, we respond to stray/loose dogs and Humane cases, bringing in several dogs a week. Since the Sheriff's Office took over, we have became classified as a no-kill facility only euthanizing for sickness and aggression. We are doing our best to maintain a no-kill environment and are working diligently to help and re-home every dog that comes through our doors. To do this we need the help of our community. Volunteers are welcome to come out at any time!
