My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Edison

Edison  may only have 75% of his limbs but he is 100% certified goofball. He is a smart, sweet, charming, and eager-to-please little lad. He knows "sit" and "wait", has never had an accident in the house, displays absolutely no resource guarding, walks well on leash, and is progressing well in crate training. He sleeps soundly in his crate each night and will occasionally return to it for day naps of his own volition.

He is a bit quirky in that he seems to vastly prefer the indoors to our yard, preferring to spend time outside only for bathroom breaks and a bit of loping on the grass. We expect this might change as he heals up and starts going on walks and exploring more.

Edison  is working with us on:
  • Respecting personal space (are you sitting down? Your face must be licked!)
  • Not jumping up on people when excited
  • Gently taking treats (he is careful but his mouth is very big)
Things  Edison  LOVES:
  • Stuffed toys
  • All the pets and love
  • Naps next to people
  • Treats!
Things  Edison  is not sure about:
  • Slippery floors (tile, wood, and concrete are scary...rugs and carpet help him walk safely!)
  • Lizards (he hasn't decided whether these are scary or chaseable)
Edison  has been a joy to foster so far. He gets more confident and playful by the day. He is overall a stupendous pup.

More about this rescue

Mission Statement and Objective
To find loving forever homes for adoptable German Shepherd Dogs placed in shelters, strays and owner turn-ins. Provide needed medical care, training and rehabilitation to neglected, abused or sick German Shepherd Dogs until they are ready for adoption.

Who We Are
The TBGSR is an all volunteer pet rescue organization for German Shepherd Dogs. All of our pets are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. They are up-to-date on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. We are dedicated to helping our adoptable animals find good homes where they will be safe, well cared for and loved for the rest of their lives. Caring for these animals allows us to learn more about their personalities and helps us to place them in a home best suited for them.

Volunteers
Tampa Bay German Shepherd Rescue welcomes volunteers. If you are a fan of the GSD, we need your help. Please contact us & let us know how you'd like to assist us.

Foster Homes Needed
We are always in the need of foster homes to house dogs that are going through medical care while getting them ready for adoption. The more wonderful families willing to foster a dog, the more wonderful German Shepherds we can save.

There is no shelter but a network of foster homes. This means we have to turn down dogs and can not pull dogs from shelters because available space is at such a premium. All dogs are spayed/neutered, wormed, treated for fleas, vaccinated and on heartworm preventative.

If you have some time, a little patience and alot of love to give, we need your help. PLEASE EMAIL US for more info.
