My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What Layla`s foster parents have to say about her --

Approximate age: About 3-4 years
Approximate size: 60ish lbs
Good with dogs? Yes
Cats? Hasn`t been tested yet
Kids? Hasn`t been tested yet, but would assume she`d be fine once she warms up.
How are they doing with potty training? She`s good. Goes outside to potty with the rest of the dogs. Has become bougie now that she`s a house dog and refuses to get her paws wet, so she does potty on the porch when it`s raining/wet. ??
How are they doing in their crate? Great. She`s had no issues in the heavy duty crate. She gets right in when we ask her to.
Energy level? Fairly low, but does like to play with the other dogs some.
Any issues with guarding? Not that we`ve noticed.
Leash reactivity? No
Fearful? She is definitely still hesitant of new people/situations, but is learning she`s safe and we won`t let anything bad happen to her.
Aggression? Not that we`ve witnessed
Separation anxiety? No
Anything else you’d like to add?

Layla is the sweetest girl and it`s been so rewarding to see her blossom into the dog she is now. She would do best in a home with another confident dog to help her learn the ropes in the new environment (and a family that is patient). Layla loves to get attention and give kisses - belly rubs are her favorite. She does great with all the other dogs in the house and has even become an emotional support dog for Wednesday (our little feral). She will most likely be a flight risk at first, so her new family will need to be willing to be extra careful and patient with her - but once they win her love over, she is nothing but loyal and loving.

More about this rescue

ThisIsHouston is a rescue dedicated to helping those who cannot ask for help!

The inundation of graphic dog posts and images on social media seems to have rendered a lot of people helpless. The bystander effect has grabbed a hold of our city and it isn’t loosening its grip. Most people are not aware of the stray overpopulation problem going on in this city. The others don’t help because somebody else will. Well, we are ‘somebody else’. We have no super powers. We have no magic formula or secret that gives us the ability to do what we do. We are just an example of what can be done when people come together for a common cause and leave egos at the door. Why do we do this? Because we choose to. Because we are tired of dogs suffering needlessly. And because we refuse to live in a world where there is a choice not to help.
