My basic info
Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello! 🐍 I’m Patricia the Fancy Ball Python! I came to JRAAR on 9/7/24 during the Exotic Pet Surrender Event in Platteville, WI. My previous owner labeled me as a Black Pastel and Pastel female, so I have some pretty striking colors!
I’m happily munching on pre-killed medium rats, so feeding time is never a problem with me!
Ball Python Care Tips
(Python regius)
Enclosure Size: A 40-gallon enclosure (or larger) is ideal for a ball python, with a secure lid to prevent any escapes.
Temperature & Humidity: Keep the enclosure at 80-85°F with a basking spot of 88-92°F. Humidity levels should be around 50-60%, with slightly higher levels during shedding.
Diet: Patricia eats pre-killed medium rats, but younger or smaller ball pythons may start with smaller prey like mice. Feed every 1-2 weeks depending on size.
Substrate: Aspen bedding, cypress mulch, or coconut husk work well. Spot clean regularly and change the substrate as needed to maintain cleanliness.
Hides: Provide at least two secure hiding spots (one on the warm side and one on the cool side) to help Patricia feel safe and secure.
Handling: Ball pythons tend to be gentle and tolerate handling well once they’re comfortable, so Patricia will enjoy some gentle handling with her new family.
