Copenhagen came to the shelter on Oct. 2 from the city pound when his legal time had expired. We do know a bit about his backstory and this is his real name. He's a pretty easy going, nice bluetick coonhound who is around 8 years old. He does know some basic commands. Like most hounds, he can be pretty vocal when the mood hits but we love a good hound sound. He will be vet checked and neutered soon and his fee is $150.
Copenhagen is a handsome dog who is a little on the thin side right now. He is pretty well mannered and personable. He has lived with other dogs. We do think he would do well with older kids. Cats? He doesn't go after them but he does keep them in his sight and will unleash his hound song for them. Hounds can be great family companions but do require some patience. They are generally controlled by their noses and require regular exercise and a secure environment. All in all, they're a lot of fun!
NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Keep an eye on your emails if you apply.
We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South.
We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.
