My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Ginger was brought in by her previous owner on September 19, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Ginger! This lovely lady is the red tabby of your dreams! Ginger adores attention, but she prefers it on her own terms - after all, a queen deserves to be treated like one! Ginger can be easily overstimulated at times and requires a cat-savvy household without children - this basically means that even though she loves attention, she can be easily overwhelmed and requires frequent breaks. She would love to sit on your lap and enjoy a movie night, but may not want to be pet the whole time. Ginger would thrive in a home with plenty of space to roam and a big cat tree to relax on. Ginger also has quite the vocal range and isn't shy about letting you know when she wants attention or treats! She's a charming gal and is ready to share that charm with her new family! Don't forget to bring a large, hard-sided cat carrier for a safe journey home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
