For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
Maizey is a 37lb sweet, mellow, shy 11 month old Schnauzer/Wirehaired Lurcher mix who loves playing with other dogs, making new friends, and cuddling with her people. This scruffy sweetheart is more reserved around new people at first, but she quickly warms up once she realizes she's safe.
Maizey, first known as Sully, was surrendered to our local high kill shelter with her older dog housemate by her owners. They brought her in as a euthanasia request, which means they asked specifically for her to be put down and not even get a chance to be adopted! We saw her adorable face and gentle demeanor and knew we had to save her. She was understandably super scared at the shelter but quickly gained some confidence once we brought her here and introduced her to our other rescue pups!
Maizey is a bit timid and submissive with other dogs at first but once she's comfortable, it's all play from there! She is a great sport and matches the energy and playstyles of the dogs around her. Once she's done exercising, she loves to come cuddle up next to you and be pet as she drifts off to sleep!
Maizey is kennel trained, seems to be house trained, and is good with other dogs and people of all kinds. Her ideal home would have at least one other doggy companion for her to play with and to show her the ropes.
Maizey is located in Houston TX but can be transported to most US states for adoption.
