Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Wally is our 2 year old, 45lb, pocket-sized Golden Retriever mix who is looking for a home to call his own! This guy is very timid at first and takes a while to warm up to people, but we have no doubt that he'll blossom into a great, confident boy in no time in a home environment! He just needs an understanding, experienced owner who is willing to work with him on his timid nature.
Wally is a goofy, curious, playful little guy who loves dogs (prefers females, he's a ladies man 😉) and thoroughly enjoys finding the most comfortable napping areas! Some of his hobbies include trying to catch flies, watching over his domain (the yard), and sleeping upside down in his kennel!
We pulled Wally from our local shelter back in late June, where he was set to be euthanized for a minor skin condition and being so shy. He was picked up as a stray in a bad area by animal control, so we unfortunately don't know anything about his past. He was extremely guarded and skittish when we first got him so we can only assume that humans have been not so kind to him at some point in his life. Wally has made some big improvements since coming here though! He loves playing with his doggy friends and does the cutest little leaps for joy during play.
Wally is fearful/slittish around people still, but he allows (and seems to enjoy!) pets when he's inside or in his kennel, and occasionally when he's outside with you. He walks very well on a leash in areas he's comfortable in and enjoys going on short walks. He will need some work getting used to people and becoming more confident, but being in a home environment with a loving owner and preferably at least one other dog will help him tremendously!
Wally is kennel trained, house trained, and good with other dogs and cats and would love to find a hone with at least 1 other dog companion to show him the ropes and help him learn that he's safe now. He will need an owner who is experienced with fearful dogs like him and is willing and able to put in the time and effort needed to get him used to the indoor dog life!
Due to his shy nature, Wally is available for local adoption only at this time.
