FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOMES NEEDED!!

***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form***

We would love to welcome Stofer into the Fetch + Releash family on November 17th, 2024 (subject to change). In order for Stofer to come into our care, we need a committed family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you'll be expected to take him home on his arrival date. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until his new forever family can be found.

Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog's nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions.

Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet in Mississauga, ON for further vet care.

During your foster-to-adopt trial, you'll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.

Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies.

Stofer / Male / 1 year / 45 pounds / Sweet and Curious / Hound Mix / from Tennessee

Meet Stofer! This lovable pup, surrendered alongside his two brothers and sister, was part of an unexpected litter. Now safe and sound in the care of our partners, Stofer is eager to find his forever home.

Despite not experiencing abandonment, Stofer has only known a life outdoors without structure or training. He will thrive with a committed family willing to guide him through the basics and beyond. Potty training, crate training and walking on leash are the first things he will need work on. His sweet nature and lovely temperament shine through, making him a wonderful companion.

Stofer loves the company of both dogs and people, often seeking reassurance from his confident brother. He is a sweetheart who enjoys giving kisses to anyone who shows him affection. Stofer would make a great family dog, especially with dog-savvy kids who can respect his space as he adjusts to his new home. He gets along well with other dogs, making him an excellent candidate for a multi-dog household, but he would also do fine on his own.

Though Stofer can be vocal when playing or alerting, he is generally a quiet dog. Due to being a hound he may not be suitable for condo/apartment living; we are unsure how he will adapt to his new environment even though he hasn't been known to be noisy. He is excited to start his new life and can't wait to see what adventures await him in Canada. Give Stofer a chance, and you'll gain a loyal and loving friend for life.

Additional adoption info

To adopt one of our dogs, please fill out an application at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form. Although we do our best to reply to all inquiries within 72 hours, please remember we are a volunteer-run organization. We appreciate your patience.

If we think your application has potential to be a good fit, a Fetch + Releash volunteer will contact you to set up a time to speak over the phone and conduct the home visit. In addition to the phone interview and home visit, we also require personal, veterinarian, and landlord reference if applicable.

After the phone interview, home visit & reference check, you will then be granted a private meet and greet with the dog.

After the meet and greet, the adoption committee will then review your completed application and make a final decision.

More about this rescue

Established in 2016, Fetch + Releash is a volunteer run dog rescue dedicated to saving dogs in need. Our foster dogs come from a variety of different backgrounds such as shelters, strays and surrendered pets, both locally and abroad. Through our network of volunteers, foster homes, trainers and veterinarians, we strive to give every dog the loving forever family they deserve. As a foster-based rescue, our dogs live in private homes across the Greater Toronto Area where they receive the love and attention they need to ready them for adoption.

A dog is a lifetime commitment and not to be discarded due to health, lifestyle change or inconvenience. Some of the top reasons dogs end up in shelters are lack of training, lifestyle changes (i.e. new baby, marriage), relocation, cost of dog ownership, not enough time for pet etc. Our goal is to ensure our adoptive families are well versed in the realities of dog ownership and ready to make a lifetime commitment.
