My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to Two-Step Tompkins! This pint-sized little munchkin will nuzzle his way straight to your heart before you can say meow meow. Recently rescued from the Tompkins NYCHA complex in Williamsburg, Two-Step was clearly an indoor boy who somehow found himself outdoors. Now happily in foster, Two-Step is ecstatic to be back in an indoor state of mind.

At 1.5 years old, he's developed quite a broad vocabulary and makes a whole variety of sounds including (but not exclusive to) standard meow, high-pitched meow, cricket sound, small dog woof, alien beep-boop, and the occasional phone ringing sound. And who knows what he’ll come up with next!

Two-Step is an expert snuggler and is easily adaptable to most any snuggle scenario. He loves holding hands and paws, touching noses, smoothing faces and draping himself all over your keyboard.

Other hobbies include birdwatching, attacking hostile paper towels and staring skeptically at the television.

If you want a buddy who’s sweeter than honey and well on the way to developing his own language, Two-Step is your boy!

This cat can be adopted with a friend or as a single cat.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
