My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Because Beetlejuice suffers from chronic dry eye, he sat at a Texas shelter with no interest from any animal rescue until NorthStar decided to give this boy a chance! The staff said that this boy is very friendly, affectionate and easy to pet. He is an angel while his eye medicine is being administered, too.

Beetlejuice is about 10 years old and weighs 17 pounds. He has been microchipped, neutered and brought up to date on his vaccines. He had a "dental" where 8 teeth were removed, leaving him with 7. For his chronic dry eye condition, Beetlejuice will need drops twice a day forever. He has also tested positive for heartworm but he will be getting treated in Texas before coming to NJ. Can you help this boy write a happy ending to this new chapter in his life?

From his TX foster mom:

Beetlejuice is such a great dog! His only negative is he tends to mark inside the house so he wears a wrap when he is inside. He is absolutely crate trained. He is super dog friendly & loves to snuggle on the couch (he can’t jump up so waits for me to lift him up.) He has yet to make a sound. I have to put ointment in his eyes multiple times a day and he just stands so patiently, waiting for you to be done.

Beetlejuice and the foster mom's granddaughter have become good friends. In fact, she calls him "Juicebug" - check out the photo of the two of them together! Beetlejuice's Texas mom has fostered numerous numerous dogs for NorthStar Pet Rescue over the years and that this is one of her favorite dogs which speaks volumes! He is a very special boy.

If you'd like to adopt Beetlejuice, please fill out an adoption application at www.northstarpets.org and ask for him by name - BEETLEJUICE TX (just don't say it 3 times!) The adoption fee for this sweet boy is $250.

More about this rescue

In many areas of the country, especially in the South, the situation for animals is desperate: Chained outside and starving, homeless and running loose, or just simply no longer wanted and abandoned in an overburdened and underfunded facility that can’t possibly take another. For these animals, there is not much hope…except to look in the night sky for the North Star, their only way out. We are a group of passionate volunteers committed to saving these innocent dogs and finding them a new forever home. NorthStar Pet Rescue was founded in 2017, and although we might be a relatively new name among New Jersey animal rescues, you may recognize some of us from the work we’ve done volunteering with other rescues to help animals over the past decade. We are 100% dedicated to operating in an safe, transparent, and ethical manner and to ensuring the best veterinary practices are followed with regards to the care and transport of our animals. NorthStar Pet Rescue is IRS 501(c)(3) charitable organization (EIN: 81-5348036).
