Meet Scout, a lovable 2 year-old, 60-pound German Shepherd-bully mix breed who is ready to steal your heart (and your spot on the couch if you let her)! This affectionate girl is both crate trained and housetrained and ready for a cat-free home to call her own! She may be strong, but she walks beautifully on a leash, making her the perfect companion for your daily walks or runs. She has a GSD body with a short bully nose, one ear up and one down and the cutest little underbite. We just can’t get enough!
Scout often gets overlooked at events and first meetings because her initial exuberance and excitement to meet new people often leads to her jumping up to say hello or barking at other dogs. We’re working on her impulse control, and with a stable environment and consistent training, we are sure she can improve her behavior during greetings. She is truly a hidden gem that many potential adopters overlook… not knowing that when Scout gets home, she is as much of a couch potato as a 14-year old overweight Bassett hound!
Scout would make a great only dog but she has lived with other dogs in foster care, and does best when given the opportunity for proper introductions to new dogs. She’s made incredible progress over the past few months and with continued consistency and confidence, we believe she will keep improving her doggie socialization skills. She made us all incredibly proud at the last adoption event with her calm and friendly interactions with some of the attendees' dogs!
Scout is spayed, heartworm negative and up to date on all vaccines. She is a delightful mix of energetic and laid-back. You won’t find a more loyal and deserving dog who is ready to bring the gift of joy and love to her new family. Complete an application today to schedule your own meet-and-greet with this awesome girl!

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Once approved, we encourage applicants to visit adoption events to meet potential dogs that could be a match.
Before you fill out the application:
1). We do not adopt to individuals living outside of North Carolina, South Carolina, or Virginia.
2). If the only dog you are interested in has a (CL) after their name, this is a courtesy listing and we do not handle the adoptions of courtesy listings, please contact the person directly.

More about this rescue

Thank you for considering adopting a GSRA dog. We love that you are exploring rescuing a GSD. We firmly believe that the adoption of a dog is not one to be taken lightly. Because of this belief, our adoption process is what some would described as lengthy and can be emotional. If you are looking to take a dog home "tomorrow", unfortunately our organization is not for you.
