Meet Brodie: Brodie is a reportedly purebred Yorkshire Terrier who is a total lover. He doesn’t know he is small (about 9 lbs) or a senior (14-y-o). He just wants to follow his person around, go for walks if he can, and play fetch with a toy.

Brodie has lived with one family since purchased as a puppy from a breeder, but his owner had to move into assisted living and cannot take him.

Brodie is house broken, barking when he wants to go out and come back in. As a senior, he needs more frequent potty breaks than a younger dog, but he makes it all night before he has to go out. He will use a potty pad if forced to go beyond his male, prostate limited, time. He comes with a crate, but we are told, has to be chased to use it.

This little dog loves all the people he meets. He runs up, climbs on them if he can, and encourages pets. He is pretty good with other dogs after he has some time with them. On initial meeting, he is rather snotty. He appreciates his personal space and doesn’t like that sniffing routine all dogs go through at first. But once that part is over, he is fine with them. We are told he doesn’t like cats.

Brodie does well on a leash, and generally comes when you call him. He has had obedience training, and supposedly knows “sit”, “stay”, “down”, and “enough” for barking, although response to that latter command is iffy. He is mostly ok riding in cars if he can ride in the front seat and see out, but if a long ride, he might bark. Brodie needs regular grooming and is ok with that.

It must be noted that his bark can sound like a seal’s bark: loud and sharp.

This senior dog is pretty much blind, so has issues going outside in the dark. He might sit outside the door afraid to come in because he cannot see. He will not use a dog door any more, presumably for that reason.

Brodie is a delight, and will make someone a wonderful companion. He is up to date on his vaccinations, is microchipped, and just had a dental when fourteen teeth were removed!

Go meet their pets

We do not have a facility but depend on the use of foster homes to provide loving temporary homes for the dogs we save. You can meet each pet through it's contact information on it's posting.

More about this rescue

We are a group of animal lovers banded together to rescue unwanted dogs and cats that are in shelters and pounds located throughout Idaho. Our non-profit rescue places each animal into our foster home program while we search for forever homes for them. We supply all vet care, food, toys, bedding; really anything they need while in our care.

We focus on those animals that are considered “hard to adopt” for various reasons; like kennel stress, having a black coat, being over 8 years old, etc. Often a foster home rather than a shelter environment helps give many of these animals a second chance at the life they deserve!

We relay on community donations and individuals willing to be foster care givers in order to continue our work.
