My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MAXX IS HAPPY JUST ABOUT ANYWHERE AND WITH ANYBODY. PREFERS A FUN BUT FAIRLY PEACEFUL ENVIRONMENT. BEST WITH KIDS OVER 6. NEEDS/LOVES TO BE BRUSHED REGULARLY. *MUST BE YOUR ONLY PET due to health reasons.* Maxx is the best name my owner could have given me! I'm maximum cuteness, sweetness, friendliness, fun and unique to the max too! I'm pretty talkative, but I speak a different cat language. I very rarely say meow. Some days I make different sounds almost every time I speak! You'll find it hard not to talk back to me, and that's fine. I think it's great to have conversations with you! I adore being around people, I will follow you everywhere and jump up to rub against you wherever you stop. You'll probably turn to see me sitting right behind you keeping you company. If you close a door, you'll find me waiting when you come back out! We've been working on it, but I still get a little nervous when being held. Keep practicing holding me, we're getting there! They're trying to teach me, and I'm getting better, but I still love-nip on you once in awhile to pet me or while you're petting me. That's the only reason to keep me from young children. I play with my little toys sometimes, and I love having cardboard scratchers! I'll play with the motion activated toy that moves under a sheet (from Amazon), and I have a great time playing with wand toys with you! Let's do that often for fun and exercise! I like to climb to sit up off the floor, so give me a cat tree and blankets on the furniture. A nice bed in the floor will be great too. I make sure to have them turn on the faucet for me, so I should have a water fountain! I've been doing well on weight management dry food. I love most fishy canned food, but only with a lot of water added to it. I'm VERY happy to get a few treats everyday. I LOVE being brushed! I'll roll over to help you brush everywhere, then you'll see that I have some smoky color underneath! * My owner wasn't able to take me to the vet, even when I needed it. I'm doing great because I got the vet attention I needed, but they say that I may have chronic sinus issues now that may not go away. It makes me sneeze sometimes, but that's all. That will need to be monitored. You won't really mind though. I'm a wonderful guy that's an incredible companion since I'm such interesting company!

More about this shelter

The Colony Animal Services strives to protect andTCAS LOGO-UPDATED nurture The City of The Colony’s lost, homeless, abused, injured, and sick pets. We seek to provide animals the opportunity to be reclaimed, adopted, rehabilitated, or rescued. It is the mission for the Animal Service Officers and volunteers to pursue a positive synergy and to serve the citizens and pets of The Colony.

Animal Services is committed to saving each and every animal that comes into our care. Over the last few years, we have improved our live release rate to 97%. We hold our standards high at keeping this percentage, and in doing so, we ask our rescue partners and citizens to help us pursue finding our animals forever homes.

Every year, we get over a hundred injured and sick animals that need our help. In order for us to help them, we use our donated medical fund to give them the proper care and treatment they need. The only way for us to provide this needed medical care is through our generous financial donors. Every penny donated is sent to our medical fund. Please help us continue this much needed medical care for our animals by donating. Even if you cannot donate, it is a huge help to share posts on social media.
