My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a loyal Frenchie who loves his zoomies?? Kookie's day starts 5:30-6:30am. He heads straight out to potty. He will run around pee, then poo, and then pees again. We then come back in for breakfast. He gets 1 cup of kibble (Zignatures small bites; kangaroo & 3fish). I add a lil bit of water & mix. I also give 2 things of Steve's raw freeze dried pork bits (whole, not broken up. I will send a bag of each w/ him. After he eats, i toss 3 Steve's pork bits into his crate. He stays in for an hour, so he doesn't get worked up. Just precaution. Then 1 -2 hours later we will go for about 1-1.5 hour walk. On hot days he will eat an hour early. He could walk first, then eat once calm. He walked calmly and nice across a busy intersection. He can handle up to a 2.5 mile walk before tiring. He was getting hot & tired on our long 3 mile walk. So at about 2.5 miles, i put him in our bike cart/stroller.... he did awesome. I held the leash, and he stayed in.

He loved meeting the 14yr old boy who lives next store. I think a teenager or 10yrs or older kid would work great. Preferably kids that respect dogs. ABSOLUTELY NO cats! He will chase and pounce, and he is a FAST lil guy! As for dogs, I think female dogs are great. NO male dogs. I say that, but their MIGHT be an accepting if it's a calmer, low energy boy. But, he is very energetic, so I think it might take work to get them together. Where as he takes right to girl dogs... BIG or small breeds. He loves toys. Some of his favorites are the giant jolly egg dog toy, a long squeaky snake, watermelon tough skin, squeaky toy, and a few others. He enjoys frozen raw 2" bones and bully or collagen chews.
Ideal home would give him play outside, walks, and especially time with his family. I think all the time in lock up at the shelter, etc, affected his perception of being left. And this is why I think another dog in the house will help him. Funny quirks; he will do cute lil back leg kicks and hops. We also found out he knows how to shake, left, and right. This boy can JUMP JUMP JUMP! So he might make a great dock diving dog or fast cat cause he can run! He also has a great nose and a HIGH prey drive. So maybe even a barn hunt dog. He is treat reward driven and has the fastest sit in the house. He is still learning his name, obviously not his original name. So, if you want to change it, I think he would be open to that.

BEST about him, he is HEALTHY, can do stairs, sits, shakes, he learns fast, walks well on a leash (or flexi), NOT food/treat/bone aggressive/reactive, does well in his crate, travels great in the car (crated), and mostly house trained (stick to the routine). A few things we have been working on, he will snag toys away from other dogs. Now, if someone tries to grab his toys away, he might try to mouth you. So again, try not to tug of war, either use a treat or just pick him up. He will and can move past this. I think he was mistreated with toy snagging and grabbing his collar. So he is leary and jumpy if you harshly grab for his collar. So move slowly if you have to grab it. The dog training for it is to have or pretend to have a treat in the other hand. He has gained trust so quickly for this. Kookie has a good amount of energy. We are using the crate to help him learn to calm himself. He can go, go, go, and exhaust himself. His crate will go with him, and I recommend that you use the crate after eating, after play time to calm and when you can't watch him. He is a good boy who deserves a great home, man or woman.. he loves them both. He was totally enthralled by the kids he had met. Any question, ask away!
