Here's what the humans have to say about me:
ABOUT CARL
Carl may be shy at first, but don't let that fool you, this guy is full of love and life! Carl is an 11-month-old lab mix. He came to HAP from a high-intake shelter in Alabama when they no longer had space for him. At first, he was a little confused to be somewhere new. However, once he settled in, his true personality shined through! Carl LOVES to play and zoom around our fenced fields. He is an energetic, active pup so we are working on his big boy manners, like no jumping and walking on a leash. He is very food-motivated and knows some basic commands already. Carl has met some dogs at the shelter, though he prefers calm dogs to coexist with rather than rough players. Carl has participated in our Doggy Day Out program, so we could learn more about his personality outside of the shelter! Here's what one volunteer had to say about him:
"I took Carl out for the day today and he was such a good boy. He was very apprehensive about getting in the car at first and scared of loud noises. We went on a walk at the reservoir and around the UD campus, before heading to my house to play! He loved getting belly rubs and eventually fell asleep right next to me. He quickly warmed up to my roommates and we all fell in love with him. He never barked once and was so sweet once he was comfortable!" - Olivia
If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
