My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dog Name: Van

Breed: Terrier/Jack Russell Mix

Sex: Male

Age: 2 years

Weight: 20lbs

Medical Needs: None

Housebroken:

Yes, needs to go out approximately every 4 hours

Crate trained:

Yes, Van is happy in his crate as long as he can see his people! He will whine a little at first but will settle down and play with his toys or nap. Van came from a horrific hoarding situation in GA., and spent his life in an outside run with other dogs, so learning to be alone has been an adjustment.

Good in the car:

Van loves to ride and enjoys being a co-pilot.

Good on a leash:

Yes, Van immediately sits down for you to leash him and may pull a little, however, the great outdoors is all new to him and there is so much to explore.

Energy level:

Low, but Van gets really excited to play with his toys and occasionally will have the zoomies when he is really happy!

Need a fenced in yard:

Not necessary as Van really seems to enjoy having walks and exploring. He is much happier on a leash than in our fenced in yard.

Dog Friendly:

If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive home?

Van currently lives with 11 other dogs in his foster home. (All ages) He does best with our older dogs who are less active. Van is not a fan of puppies or any high energy dogs. It is not necessary for him to have another dog in his new home.

Cat Friendly?

Yes, he seems to be timid of our dog savvy cats, but as Van is very gentle, he would be fine with cats.

Kid Friendly:

If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with?

Van has not been exposed to children in his foster home, however, we believe he would be fine with older children above the age of 12, due to his anxiety with a lot of activity.

Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them?

Van is extremely sweet and just wants to be with his people all the time. He will entertain himself with his toys and treats. He has wonderful manners but will get into a little mischief if unsupervised outside his crate. Again, as he spent his life in an outdoor pen with many other dogs, he is still adjusting to life inside with people. He is extremely affectionate and gentle.
