My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Willow is one of 11 puppies saved from euthansia in an overcrowded shelter in Roswell, NM. She was raised in foster care there while they waited for the opportunity to come to WA to find their forever home. They are approx 13 weeks old and thought to be a shepherd, husky mix. They are in the PNW waiting for their family.

Dog Name: Willow

Age: ~4-5 months

Gender: Female

Breed: Husky/Shepard X

Good with dogs? Yes! She’s growing up with two other dogs including an 11-year old Heeler and a 1-year Pitbull X.

Good with cats? Unknown, but we think she’d do well with cats.

Good with kids? Yes! She’s growing up with our toddler and is calm and patient with her.

What is their rescue story? Willow came from a high-kill shelter in Roswell, NM. She was one of a litter of eleven puppies that was rescued to come to the PNW.

Temperament/Personality: Willow is a great mix of calm yet playful. She absolutely loves playing (and cuddling!) with our younger resident dog and has decided he’s her best bud. We completely trust her with our kiddo and she’s seamlessly become part of the family over the last two weeks. She would thrive in a house that’s active and wants her to be part of a movie-night cuddle on the couch.

Has experience on a leash? We’ve started short walks and it’s a work in progress. She’s finding walks a little scary so we’re working on building her confidence through short, positive jaunts.

Potty trained? Close! We’re working on it (lots of potty breaks during the day!) and she’s slowly learning the ropes.

Crate trained? Yes! Willow spends time in the crate when her foster parents need to be in the office. She also sleeps in her crate all night without complaint.

Where does the dog stay when it is home alone? Willow is doing great at spending time in her crate when she’s home alone.

Where does the dog sleep? Willow is sleeping in her crate in our bedroom. We’re pushovers and usually let fosters sleep in our bed - but Willow hasn’t made a peep at night and seems content to have her own spot.

Temperament/Personality: Willow is the SWEETEST and is such a gem of a dog. She’s great with kids and our other dogs and is a very quick learner. She likes to have a good romp and then settle in for a cozy nap snuggled next to her people.

What does the dog's ideal home look like? We think she’d thrive in a home with another dog who can play with her and show her the ropes of being a happy, confident dog. A home without dogs could be okay if she is able to tag along with her people on a lot of new adventures.

What are the dog’s strengths? Willow is a fantastic cuddler and is such a sweet dog. She’s also very smart and catches on to things quickly.

What is the dog still working on? She can be somewhat sensitive and scared of new things. It’ll be important to give her a lot of positive experiences while she’s young so she learns the world is an okay place.

What can they improve? Like all puppies, Willow likes to explore new things through some chewing. We direct her to toys so she knows what’s appropriate to chew :) She’s a huge fan of all bones, stuffies, etc.

If your foster were a celebrity, who would they be? Elsa in Frozen. Not only is she blonde, she’s a sensitive girl who has a lot of love to give.

If your foster dog were on a dating site, what would their profile say? A sensitive and sweet girl looking for life-long companionship. An ideal date would be a hike in the mountains followed by a cozy movie night on the couch.

Beach or Mountains? Since she’s part Husky, she’d thrive in the mountains :)

Squeaky/Bouncy/Chewy, what do they look for in a toy? Willow would love any bone or squeaky stuffy to chew.

Complete this sentence “My foster wishes they had a friend with whom they could share…” All of life’s adventures!

What’s your foster’s favorite dessert? A nibble of cheese and a bully stick.
