My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Shrimp Gumbo Soup, aka Shrimp! Shrimp is the sweetest, cuddliest young man that is adjusting to city life quite nicely. He warms up to most people quickly and is curious about all that his new life has to offer! Shrimp adores attention, but is most happy when he gets to be involved in whatever you’re doing. He likes watching you go about your daily routine and sitting next to you as you work or hang out. He is incredibly relaxed, with short bouts of energy throughout the day!

Shrimp is still getting used to all the city noise, so he is a bit timid on walks and when strangers approach him at first. He’s getting more confident as the days pass! Shrimp is curious about other dogs, but generally leaves them alone. He loves a jaunt around the block and smelling all the scents the local parks have to offer. He does best on short, slow walks and is great with his leash/harness!

When he’s not busy being the smallest boy in the world, you can find Shrimp lounging on the couch or playing with his toys. He is very food motivated, does great at meal time, and has adapted very well to the schedule we’ve created for him. Shrimp does not mind his crate at all and arrived to us mostly house-broken! While he is naturally well-behaved, we are working on basic commands like “sit” and “stay”.

Shrimp would be a wonderful companion to anyone looking for a low-energy, minimal-exercise dog. He would thrive with a family that is willing to improve upon the positive behaviors he already has and provide a bit more training. He does great alone, but loves attention and would be great for someone who works from home most days of the week!

Personality & Characteristics: Loves to cuddle, lounge on the couch, play with his lion toy, and eat!
My foster dog is good with: Dogs (mostly!) - we're still getting used to everyone and everything on our walks, so if anything he's a bit timid with other dogs and kids.
My foster dog is: Crate trained (doesn't mind being in it at all!), House trained (mostly! He's had the occasional accident as he adjusts. He's very good about waiting to go outside 95% of the time!)
3 Keywords for your pup: Sweet, cuddly, and chill!
Energy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy): 5-6, Shrimp will have short bursts of energy, usually after meal times or walks (~5 minutes).
Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: Quiet! Occasionally barks at people entering the home or sounds on the street.
Walking Manners: Very good at walking! He enjoys slow, short walks and is still a bit timid.
Appetite: Very healthy appetite! He is very food-motivated and loves to eat.
Does the following: Shrimp is a bit nervous outside, but getting more confident with every walk. He has a bit of seperation anxiety and will whine when left alone during the day (not at bedtime), but settles down within a few minutes.
Favorite Things: Sitting on the couch, eating, smelling trees outside, and cuddles!
Commands/Tricks: Great with "come here", working on "sit", "stay", and "down".

ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at  WaldosRescue.org  and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog.  We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs.

Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States
