My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tomato Soup (just "Soup" for short) is the ultimate lover boy! He is a gorgeous chocolate brown boy with the sweetest brown puppy dog eyes. He has some puppy energy but loves to be with his people all the time. He's a great companion for a long walk to the park - he tugs on the leash when he sees something interesting (food, another dog, etc.) but is learning better walking behavior quickly as he is extremely treat-motivated and smart! He is suuuper friendly with all other dogs and people on the street, wagging his tail excitedly after every new interaction. He is very good at entertaining himself with his toys while you're working or hanging out nearby. He loves to snuggle and is the perfect relaxation/napping companion. He is incredibly quiet, only barking in response to other dogs barking directly at him on the street, which makes him absolutely perfect for an NYC apartment with close neighbors!

  • My foster dog is good with: All dogs (every breed and size), all people, and kids.

  • My foster dog is: House trained, work-in-progress for crate training, little to no shed. He does well in the bath too, as long as you have some good treats nearby.

  • 3 Keywords for your pup: Happy, Loving, Silly

  • Energy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy): 6

  • Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: VERY quiet, no barking or whining. When he does occasionally bark in response to another dog on the street, he startles himself!

  • Walking Manners: Tugs a little on the leash but working on it - very trainable.

  • Appetite: Great! He is extremely food motivated and not at all picky.

  • Does the following: Has some separation anxiety (cries when we leave). He loves to chase his tail and throw his own toys for himself to chase!

Favorite Things: Playing with other dogs, long walks, tasty bones/toys, snuggling
Commands/Tricks: Sit and fetch - we are working on "Wait", as he does get very excited around meal time.

ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at  WaldosRescue.org  and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog.  We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs.

Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States
