My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ramsay!

This sweet guy came to us as a stray so unfortunately we don't have much history on him.
Ramsay is a young man with lots of energy and would love nothing more than to have the space to burn off his energy and someone active who will take him on adventures! Ramsey can be shy of strangers, especially when outside the area he knows. He would benifit from an owner who listens when he is uncomfortable and will advocate for his personal space if he's feeling overwhelmed.
Ramsay doesn't seem to know his own strength and does tend to pull while on leash, so he does need to be taught leash manners in order for him to relax while on walks. True to his breed, Ramsey is food and toy motivated and engages fully in training exercises.
Ramsey has successfully had dog friends! He has played off leash and is great meeting dogs on-leash during trail walks. He has been corrected for overexcited behaviour by an older dog and responded well, giving the other dog space.
Ramsay does love to dig so he would appreciate a home that could give him a different outlet to satisfy that urge such as going to the beach!
He would really benefit from some positive reinforcement training as he can be jumpy and mouthy. Luckily he is very food and toy motivated so it's easy to redirect him.

If you're interested in Ramsay and have room in your heart and home for him, send us an application!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
