Blocky headed cutie pie! Meet Rufus! A fun loving boy looking forward to settling down after the numerous transitions in his life recently. Rufus enjoys playing with toys, going on long walks and hikes, and opportunities for casual recreation with other dogs! Once settled down and comfortable in his routine, Rufus is likely to be a couch potato -- after a long day of fun, he can't wait to pile on the couch for movie nights with his new family!
Our walkers tell us that when they enter his kennel to leash him up, he will greet them energetically and enthusiastically. Once outside, he may alternate between pulling hard because the smells are just so darn enticing and then relaxing and walking calmly. When they take him into one of the play yards, they better have a good supply of tennis balls because he LOVES a good game of fetch and when the weather is warm, a nice dip (well actually a lot of splashing) in one of the play pools.
Rufus will only be rehomed to a family with children 10 years of age and older and is recommended for a home without other dogs at this time. Meet with him today! Primary Color: Brown Weight: 73.2 Age: 2yrs 2mths 2wks

Adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter and first vaccines, medical exam, and microchip.
How to Adopt from Foothills Animal Shelter:
Visit the Shelter or one of our offsite adoption partner locations to find a pet. Once you’ve decided on an animal, you should check with staff to see the status and history of the animal. At this time, you can fill out an adoption application and visit with the animal.
We recommend you bring all family members to the Shelter to meet with the animal before you consider adopting. If you are interested in adopting a dog, bring any household dogs to the Shelter to determine if it is a good match. Also, if you rent your home, please bring the pet policy in your lease or rental agreement and contact information for your landlord.
Once your application is reviewed, you can pay the adoption fees and take your new pet home. It may take some time for your new pet to adjust to its new environment. If you have questions or concerns after adopting, please contact us at 303-278-7575.
