My story

Arnie is a cute little brown and white Boxer mix breed whose estimated DOB is 5/15/2024 and he just weighed in at 16 pounds. Someone dropped him and his brother, Rufus off in front of our shelter. While they are both a little scared as a result of being abandoned, Arnie is a little more timid than Rufus. He is more comfortable when his brother is with him. Arnie is cautious and a bit shy, but he does warm up in a few minutes. He is sweet, and likes to be held and cuddled and told that it's going to be ok. Come meet Arnie and Rufus today and let them steel your heart!

Our adoption fee is $125 for small breed dogs under 20 pounds and $100 for all other dogs and cats unless otherwise noted in their bio. Every pet available for adoption is current on shots spayed/neutered, and microchipped. You may submit an application online for pre-approval and to set an appointment or you can visit the shelter Wednesday - Sunday from 11am - 5pm. Please note that the kennels close for pet viewing at 4:30pm.

The mission of the Humane Society of Pulaski County is to rescue, care for and find homes for abandoned, abused, homeless and unwanted animals; to reduce suffering of animals; and to reduce the number of homeless animals through adoption, spay/neuter, and through education.

The Humane Society of Pulaski County provides access to low-cost, healthy, inoculated, sterilized animals to people seeking to adopt animals as pets only. Adopters are screened to see if they can provide the basics of care for the animals, proper housing, and continued veterinary maintenance; and have no history of animal abuse or irresponsible ownership.

The Humane Society is a private no-kill shelter, supported solely by donations, fund-raisers, bequests and grants. We receive no city, county or state funding, nor are we affiliated with any other organization. We have been rescuing animals since 1946, and have been in our present building since 2000.
