My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Triton is a cute brown tabby kitten with an estimated DOB of May 2024, currently looking for his forever home!

Triton came into foster care with 4 other kittens, and he was one of the last to warm up to people. After some time and patience, he has come around and is now such a sweet boy! He enjoys being near his people and is quite the purring love bug.

When he is in his room with one brother (Orion) and one sister (Andromeda), he will stay near the door when he knows you're coming but will be the first to run and hide when he sees anyone new or hears any loud noises. So, while he definitely won’t be your party cat, he will be a wonderful addition to a home looking for a cat who is a great mix of independence and companionship.

One of Triton’s favorite spots is in the sun, looking out the window to watch the bugs and birds in the world around him. He likes to chase, pounce and wrestle, especially with his sister Andromeda. But he also enjoys any sort of larger toy or “kicker” that will let him be the boss (see video!).

He likes getting his back pet and peering into your soul with his beautiful green eyes. This sweet guy would do best with a cat companion to help remind him to go and explore the world because it isn’t so scary! (If you’re interested in 3 kittens, be sure to check out his bonded siblings Orion and Andromeda that he could stay with 🙂) Because Triton is under 6 months old, Pet Haven requires that he goes to a home that has another kitty friend for him to grow up with!

There are three dogs in his foster home, but he has never met them—only heard their noises from afar. He briefly met some younger kids, but they were too loud and energetic, and it scared him. This low-key boy would do best in a home with older kids or adults who have some patience, as well as lots of places where he can perch and observe the big world around him.

While Triton may take longer to adjust, he's got quite the personality and love to share with the right home! Could it be with you?

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate. Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated.

Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption. Interested in adopting or learning more about this cat? Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
