My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dorian and Lysandra, the cutest 15-week-old yin and yang brother/sister duo, ready for their furever home!

Dorian is the flame point Siamese boy who has the sweetest disposition. Commonly referred to as “my snuggle buddy” he is the first among his siblings to settle into my lap after a play session and is genuinely such a kind and gentle little guy. He will often step back and observe if others are chasing after a toy and wait his turn patiently. When it comes time for canned food, though, this guy has plenty to say!

Lysandra is the more classic Siamese little lady. She was brought into rescue a couple of weeks after her siblings and is still learning to trust strangers. Every day she gains more and more confidence but will likely never be a kitty who greets strangers at the door; she needs a quiet, peaceful home to be her best self.

Lysandra has a huge purr, almost a silent meow, and loves to ask for back scritches by going up on her tallest tippytoes. She’s learning to snuggle and relax into her person when she feels safe, but sudden movement and noises will send her into hiding.

The perfect furever home for this duo would be a quieter, consistent home with people who want to truly earn the kitties’ trust. These sweethearts will thrive with humans who seek to bond deeply with them, while truly working on helping the kittens find success and happiness in their home!

They do well with other kitties and respect boundaries! While Dorian could do okay with a low-key dog, it could be a bit much for Lysandra. Kids are unlikely to be a good match, except for extremely chill, relaxed older teenagers who are patient, quiet, and cat-savvy.

Dorian’s love is quick and joyful, and earning Lysandra’s love and trust will be the most rewarding thing in the world for her family! Are you the special home for these two gorgeous siblings?

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate. Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated.

Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption. Interested in adopting or learning more about this cat? Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
