Meet Calvin, a TRIPLE-THREAT (pun intended) doggo. You see, because of some horrible person’s cruelty -- he was shot and had to have his shattered leg removed 😔 -- Calvin is now a tripod, Treeing Walker Coonhound, but, oh boy, this does not slow him down much at all!
Speaking of cruelty, Calvin has scars on his face, ears, and front legs suggesting that the shooter (or some other jerk in the area in which Calvin was originally found as a stray) was persistently abusive to him. BUT. . .
Calvin’s traits that make him a triple threat? How about these?:
1) He is SUPER sweet and affectionate!
2) He crates up perfectly all night long for sleeping.
3) I mean…just look at him. He’s GORGEOUS!!!
The deets: Calvin is thought to be about three-years-old, and he’s up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, potty-trained, and sweet-natured, as most TWCs are.
Calvin will need anti-inflammatory medication and/or pain meds to help him go through life with three legs, but he does well taking his meds morning and night with pill pockets, and he does not exhibit signs of being in pain with them.
Because of the cruelty Calvin endured, he is still a little skittish around people who are fearful of him or “loud” to the point of being scary to him.
He will need to be in a childfree and catfree home, preferably with a fenced yard and a fur playmate his size. Calvin has not been aggressive with children, but he can be triggered by fear and then growl at whoever’s nearby. Being firm with him and redirecting him snaps him out of this demeanor, but his foster thinks even an older child may not be able to read his stress in these (rare) moments. If Calvin has two owners, they must both be committed to bonding with him to prevent him becoming “resource guarding” with only one of the two.
Calvin has been a perfect gentleman in his foster home, on outings for socialization, and around all visitors to the foster’s house. He’s READY to start his furever journey with a family of his own. Please fill out an adoption form TODAY for this goodest boi!
