FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOMES NEEDED!!

***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form***

We would love to welcome Grizz into the Fetch + Releash family November 17th (subject to change). In order for Grizz to come into our care, we need a committed family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you'll be expected to take him home on his arrival date. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found.

Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog's nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions.

Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet in Mississauga, ON for further vet care.

During your foster-to-adopt trial, you'll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.

Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies.

Grizz / Male / 1 years / 42 pounds / Mixed Breed / from Tennessee

Meet Grizz, an affectionate young pup who was found as a stray and faced the risk of euthanasia at the local pound. Luckily, he was transferred to our partner sanctuary, where he now has the bright future he truly deserves.

Grizz has quickly made himself at home, enjoying the company of new canine friends and soaking up affection from his caregivers. He loves playtime with toys and is an enthusiastic fetch player. Grizz also has a passion for water—whether he's splashing in a kiddie pool or swimming in a pond, he’s a true water dog!

Though Grizz is young and likely new to structured routines, he is eager to learn. He'll need a family committed to his training and to providing an outlet for his energy. While he’s shown signs of being house trained and usually doesn’t soil his kennel, it' fair to expect a few accidents as he adjusts. Regular exercise is key for Grizz, so he’ll thrive with at least three walks a day (approximately 30 minutes each) , along with playtime and mental enrichment.

Grizz’s intelligence is evident, with good recall even while still learning his name. Continued training will help him master commands and obedience. His affectionate nature extends to kids, though his excitable energy makes him better suited for families with children aged 8 and up. An active family who enjoys adventures would be a perfect match for him.

Grizz gets along well with other dogs, but his high energy might be too much for some. A dog that can match his playfulness would be ideal, though having another dog isn’t necessary. Socialization with other dogs is important for his happiness. He would do best in a home without cats.

While we can’t guarantee Grizz is hypoallergenic, he’s likely low-shedding and will need regular grooming to keep him looking his best. Despite his rough start, Grizz’s vibrant personality is intact. He’s ready to fill your life with joy, love, and unforgettable memories.

When he came into care, Grizz tested positive for ehrlichia which is a tick borne disease that can stay in the bloodstream for many years. Further testing confirmed that the ehrlichia is in a dormant state and Grizz should not experience any clinical symptoms. It is recommended that ehrlichia positive dogs get an annual blood test to monitor the anaplasmosis and that any pre-op blood work should include a CBC test and platelet count before any surgeries or dental extractions.

As a condition of the adoption contract, Grizz’s new family will be required to attend and complete a basic obedience class at their own cost (proof required).

To adopt one of our dogs, please fill out an application at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form. Although we do our best to reply to all inquiries within 72 hours, please remember we are a volunteer-run organization. We appreciate your patience.

If we think your application has potential to be a good fit, a Fetch + Releash volunteer will contact you to set up a time to speak over the phone and conduct the home visit. In addition to the phone interview and home visit, we also require personal, veterinarian, and landlord reference if applicable.

After the phone interview, home visit & reference check, you will then be granted a private meet and greet with the dog.

After the meet and greet, the adoption committee will then review your completed application and make a final decision.

More about this rescue

Established in 2016, Fetch + Releash is a volunteer run dog rescue dedicated to saving dogs in need. Our foster dogs come from a variety of different backgrounds such as shelters, strays and surrendered pets, both locally and abroad. Through our network of volunteers, foster homes, trainers and veterinarians, we strive to give every dog the loving forever family they deserve. As a foster-based rescue, our dogs live in private homes across the Greater Toronto Area where they receive the love and attention they need to ready them for adoption.

A dog is a lifetime commitment and not to be discarded due to health, lifestyle change or inconvenience. Some of the top reasons dogs end up in shelters are lack of training, lifestyle changes (i.e. new baby, marriage), relocation, cost of dog ownership, not enough time for pet etc. Our goal is to ensure our adoptive families are well versed in the realities of dog ownership and ready to make a lifetime commitment.
