A volunteer writes: Meet 43lbs of FUNyuns! This little bowling ball is already prancing around when I arrive to meet him. Toy in mouth, he is happy as a clam to stretch those tiny leggies. He barely needs us to play, and happily tosses his stuffie in the air and then pounces after it. While he may not need us to play, he needs us for petting, and he is in luck because its one of the services we offer. He weaves back and forth like a cat against me, climbing clumsily over my legs to reposition himself. He doesn't drop his toy even once, it's like he is putting on a one man parade of silliness. I am not going to lie, watching him run around and just be a dog is utterly delightful and we have smiles plastered across our faces the whole time.
My #BoroughBreak Buddy Writes: Funyuns behaved so well in the park and on our car ride there. At first he was a little anxious in the car (as normal) but he then laid down and was enjoying the sunlight. He felt asleep for a bit then got up to put his head out the window. 😊 He was listening to commands such as "leave it", sit/stay. He was overall a pleasure walking because he wasn't reactive towards other dogs, squirrels, birds including people/children that walked by. When he was playing with his toy and I grabbed it, he would easily leave it for me to get it. Even though he is a very strong dog, he did not pull excessively, nor became mouthy or show any signs of aggression towards me, other people and other dogs. It was such an incredible experience being able to spend the day with him and he did so good the whole entire time.
Funyuns was found as a stray, so no information about his previous life or behavior is known. He is working on his manners with people and other dogs, and would love a home that can use positive reinforcement to teach him all the things he needs to know in a kind way. He met a dog at the shelter and was loose and wiggly. He attempted to play with her but didn't heed her body language when she had enough of his youthful energy. A home that can help him learn these cues while keeping his experiences with other dogs positive would be ideal! Funyuns is at Queens ACC.
What my friends at ACC say about me:
My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!
I love to be loved, but on my own terms! Let's brush up on some canine body language together!
I'm ready to learn! I need a patient person who has the time to work on training with me.
I would do best in a home with only adult humans.
I am excitable and energetic! I will need positive outlets for my energy!
