Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hilts is looking for that one special someone or couple. Once Hilts warms up to you, he will be your forever shadow. He just wants to sit in your lap or right next to you and be with you. Hilts is timid of new people and will try to hide when a lot of people he doesn’t know are around. It will take him several weeks of love and affections to warm up to you, but once he does, he will love you forever.
Hilts does get along with other dogs but would prefer to be your only dog. Hilts would do best with an older adult or adult couple with no children. Hilts doesn’t bark and you never hear a peep out of him. He walks great on a leash, is kennel trained and can stay in his kennel for several hours without issue. Hilts also knows how to use a doggie door, though he does have an occasional accident in the house. He loves treats, he doesn’t have many teeth left (about 4 to be exact) so he does prefer soft treats (even though he will try his best to eat the hard ones). He also eats canned food or Farmers Dog food with a little kibble mixed in. Hilts has been camping and loved it. He would be a great travel companion, as long as he is with the one he is connected to.
Hilts is around 7 years old and may have microvascular dysplasia and will need to have his liver enzymes monitored annually or sooner if clinical signs.
To set up a meet and greet or inquire about a dog, please first fill out an application at https://savinghoperescue.org/adopt It doesn`t obligate you, but it is the first step. We don`t get to all of the inquiries but respond to all applications. Thank you for choosing to rescue!
