Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Chicken was born 11/27/2021, her mom is a Standard Poodle, and her dad is an Old English Sheepdog. Chicken loves everyone she meets, and you can see both breeds represented in her personality. She can be a little nervous, and loves to be close to her person, and is currently in a foster home with dogs that range in size from 6 pounds to 110 pounds.
Chicken is kennel trained and house trained. Chicken was born with bad hips, and has had corrective surgery on both sides. She runs around like crazy now, and is happy and healthy. Her ortho said keeping her on a joint supplement is a good idea. She has been on one from Costco and is doing great! She is a little insecure meeting new dogs, but settles in great. She will give corrections if a dog comes on too strong, and is not a great option for dog parks, she does not enjoy them. She has done some therapy work with children and seems to enjoy it.
All dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, Heartworm tested, and current on vaccinations and preventions prior to adoption. At the time of adoption all dogs are signed up with a unique Safe Paws QR pet ID tag, the adopter is required to maintain a monthly membership of $2.99/month for (at minimum) the first year. This helps insure your new furry family member makes his way back to you if lost. Leashes and collars are also required at the time of adoption. You are welcome to bring your own, or we have plenty to chose from at the shelter as well.
This dog is currently in a foster home, please fill out an adoption survey and the foster will contact you with next steps: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/MARQ/Dog

Additional adoption info
We firmly believe that EVERYONE deserves the love of a pet, and strive to make our adoption process a positive one!
When you visit our Adoption Center in Raytown, our amazing Matchmakers will go to work helping match you with your perfect pet! If you would like to meet a pet currently located in a foster home, please email foster@marqkc.org and the foster parent will then be in contact to set up a time to meet at the shelter.
Midwest Animal ResQ provides medical treatment for all animals that come into our care. Some pets come to us injured or sick, and require an extraordinary amount of medical intervention. Variable adoption pricing allows us to continue to do more for those animals that need us the very most! Currently our average adoption fees do not begin to cover our average medical costs, not to mention the other costs associated with animal care, thus our fees are not negotiable. Thank you for understanding!
To adopt any animal, a government issued ID is required. For dogs we do require a well fitting collar or harness and a leash, you are welcome to bring those with you, or we have them for sale at the shelter for $5-$15. For cats we require a secure carrier, if you don’t have one, we sell cardboard carriers for $10 at the shelter. You will also receive a copy of all current health records.
We look forward to seeing you, and hopefully matching you with your perfect match!

Midwest Animal ResQ offers a 30-day adjustment period within which you can evaluate the pet's progress and your adoption decision. If, within those 30 days, you determine your recently adopted pet isn't a good fit, you may return the animal and receive a MARQ credit that can be used toward the adoption of another animal. Our biggest priority is finding the very best match for you, and Completing Families one Tail at a Time!
