My name is Hera!

Hera is a sweet, shy Shih Tzu/Bichon Frise puppy who's full of love but needs time and patience to build her confidence. She's timid and can be nervous around new people and sudden movements, preferring a quiet home without young children. Hera loves to cuddle and give face kisses, but she's often hesitant about being picked up, needing someone who will respect her boundaries.

She's great with other dogs, looking to her foster sibling for reassurance, and while she's not food motivated, she enjoys her chews-often retreating to her crate, her safe space, to enjoy them. Hera's potty trained on pee pads and is working on learning that outdoor potty breaks are preferred. She follows a consistent routine, sleeps well in her crate, and naps throughout the day.

Though nervous at first, once Hera trusts you, she'll happily snuggle up at your feet or on your lap. With a calm, understanding family who will give her the time she needs, Hera will blossom into a loyal and affectionate companion.

* Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog from Little Dog Rescue. Our dogs come from a variety of sources and backgrounds. They are all in need of adopters that have patience, an understanding of where these dogs have come from, and that there will be an adjustment time when they transition into their forever home. This can include learning basic commands, walking on leash and potty training. Some dogs will pick up on your routine and expectations faster than others. Potty accidents will happen. We find that positive reinforcement, consistency, and routine from the adopter achieves the best results. We are a small, all volunteers team and give 100% of our efforts towards doing right by these pups. We are often juggling many responsibilities at the same time and do our very best to process inquiries and applications in a timely manner. We do prioritize inquiries that have a submitted application on file through the Little Dog Rescue website.We do our best to accurately assign breed designations, however we are unable to guarantee 100% accuracy. Sometimes we only have the dogs appearance to go on. Our adoption fees are thoughtfully considered. The adoption fee is not a purchase price for the dog. It is a fee that is designed to support the overall work of our rescue. Highly desirable dogs and puppies are intentionally listed with a higher adoption fee. This is done to help offset the enormous medical expenses we incur when taking in older pups and special needs medical dogs whose adoption fees do not come close to covering their expenses. In addition, the vast majority of our dogs are brought in from out of state and incur transport fees along with their medical and acquisition costs. We ask that you take all of these things into consideration, and we look forward to finding a great match for your family.
