My name is Persephone!

Persephone is a playful and rambunctious Shih Tzu/Bichon Frise puppy full of energy and happiness. She loves to see you and is always ready for playtime, preferring it over cuddles. Independent by nature, Persephone enjoys lounging on the cool floor, often stretching out as far as she can. While she does well in her crate, she will let you know if she'd rather be out, even if her foster sibling is with her.

She loves going on walks and has been doing great, though she'll occasionally "plop" down if the walk feels too long. Persephone is a bit sassy and isn't afraid to tell you how she feels, especially during playtime or when you walk away without her permission. She's curious but slightly shy when meeting new people or dogs, though her playful nature always shines through.

This little girl is extremely food motivated-so much so that she may try to sneak her foster sibling's food when no one's looking! She's working on potty training and uses pee pads indoors between outdoor potty breaks, but sometimes she misses the mark. She's learning to go outside after meals and usually needs to go within 10-15 minutes of eating, so keeping a routine is key.

Persephone loves being around her people and will whine or bark if left in the crate when she knows you're nearby, so crate training and making it a safe space for her is important. She's great with other dogs, enjoys children, travels well in the car, and would thrive in a home with someone who can match her playful energy or another dog to keep her company.

They are all in need of adopters that have patience, an understanding of where these dogs have come from, and that there will be an adjustment time when they transition into their forever home. This can include learning basic commands, walking on leash and potty training. Some dogs will pick up on your routine and expectations faster than others. Potty accidents will happen. We find that positive reinforcement, consistency, and routine from the adopter achieves the best results. We are a small, all volunteers team and give 100% of our efforts towards doing right by these pups. We are often juggling many responsibilities at the same time and do our very best to process inquiries and applications in a timely manner. We do prioritize inquiries that have a submitted application on file through the Little Dog Rescue website.We do our best to accurately assign breed designations, however we are unable to guarantee 100% accuracy. Sometimes we only have the dogs appearance to go on. Our adoption fees are thoughtfully considered. The adoption fee is not a purchase price for the dog. It is a fee that is designed to support the overall work of our rescue. Highly desirable dogs and puppies are intentionally listed with a higher adoption fee. This is done to help offset the enormous medical expenses we incur when taking in older pups and special needs medical dogs whose adoption fees do not come close to covering their expenses. In addition, the vast majority of our dogs are brought in from out of state and incur transport fees along with their medical and acquisition costs. We ask that you take all of these things into consideration, and we look forward to finding a great match for your family.
