My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey there, future adopters! I’m Aster, the 4-year-old Dogo Argentino extraordinaire. With my gorgeous light brown eyes, I’ve got the looks that can make anyone melt. But don’t be fooled—I’m not just a pretty face. I’m a no-nonsense kind of gal who runs this show, and I need an adopter who can handle my fabulous, bossy ways!

Let’s be clear: I’m a dominant lady, so I’m looking for someone who knows their stuff when it comes to handling a high-maintenance diva like me. But, oh boy, you’re in for a treat if you’ve got the skills! I adore going on walks and exploring the yard, but what truly makes my heart race is WATER. Pools, ponds, hoses—you name it. I’ve even put in a formal request for a home with a pool. Water is my happy place, and I could literally lounge in a 40-gallon tub all day if you let me.

I’m all about the people, though! I’m a certified people-lover, and my tail wags so hard that you might need to hold on for dear life. Be prepared for kisses that might make you wonder if you’re being smothered or loved to bits. I’m like your personal therapist, here to brighten your day with my big personality and endless charm.

When it comes to other dogs, I’m picky. I’m cool with friendly males but don’t even think about introducing me to other females or dominant males—I’m the queen of this castle, and that’s not up for debate!

I’m an active girl who loves her exercise and road trips, but don’t worry, I’m a seasoned traveler who doesn’t get car sick. As long as I’m getting my walks and adventures, I’m happy to chill and watch Netflix with you.

So why am I in rescue?  Well someone let me down and dumped me in California. I was picked up as a stray and ended up at the San Bernadino shelter, not a good place if you want to live a long life! Anyway, a rescue pulled me and I ended up in a home for a bit but it was too much because they had a dominant male and I ain't got patience for that!  So, DC Dogos came along and brought me to their rescue and now I am in sunny Tampa, FL waiting for my new life!  So, if you’re ready to take on a vibrant, water-loving, tail-wagging bundle of joy, I’m here waiting. Let’s make some waves together!

More about this rescue

We are a breed specific dog rescue and direct our efforts on saving Dogo Argentino's across the United States. Our volunteers are dedicated to this breed and concerned about how many are ending up in rescue. We want to educate new owners of this breed and help lessen the amount we are seeing in the rescue network!
