My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Diffy was trapped as part of a TNR sweep and was found to be friendly. A local resident stated cat had been seen in the neighborhood for some time with a collar. He recently showed up without his collar and a wound to his face. The resident suspects the cat may have left when his people moved. Neighbors were asked and nobody claimed the cat or knew where he lived. Diffy is normally very sweet, but he is cage aggressive. He wants to come indoors and has also shown himself to be an accomplished hunter. His ideal home would be strictly indoors (with lots of activities) to protect the local wildlife and him so he doesn't cross the neighbors while hunting OR to be employed as a barn cat where his skills can be put to good use.

More about this rescue

We are East Newton Animal Coalition. We started with a mission to serve the unwanted pets in eastern Newton County Missouri. We are part of a very rural area and many nearby towns are very small and have no animal services. We have opened our doors to many small rural pounds, animal controls, and law enforcement. Our group was able to raise funds to build a new pound in our town, Granby, Missouri. We currently care for the animals of this facility and facilitate their return, rescue, or adoption. We also care for a colony of about 80 "less adoptable" cats at a private residence. We began our relationship with the Joplin, Missouri Petsmart in November 2023 and our cat adoptions have gone from about 6 per year to being on track for around 300 per year. We hope to be able to introduce a dog adoption program at Petsmart soon.
