Taco came into the rescue after his neighbor became upset that Taco was constantly running in the streets and chasing cars. She contacted the owner numerous times about his safety and told the owner that if they couldn't keep him out of the street, they were going to take him. The owner told them they could have him and he finally ended up with us to try to find him a permanent, safe and loving home. Taco is a great little dog. He is a miniature aussie with attitude. He thinks he's a big dog in a little dog's body. Taco is very friendly with pretty much everyone he meets. He loves to snuggle and play and really enjoys being with his people. He is crate trained and pretty much housebroken as long as you watch for his signals and give him outside time. He walks on a leash well, rides in a car well and is just a well rounded dog. He does well in the house too..no bad habits that we have noticed. He wasn't neutered when he came in so he did mark a bit but that should fizzle out now that he has been neutered. Taco can get nippy occasionally when he doesn't want to do what you want him to but he does understand no and responds well to it. These instances have been pretty rare..overall, he has really been a well behaved boy. He's not an escape artist so a fenced yard or leash walking should keep him safe. Taco will make a great family companion!!
Taco saw the vet on 9/25/24 and was found to have no health issues on his exam. He is negative on his heartworm test and has been started on heartworm prevention and flea control. Taco tested positive for hookworms on his fecal so he was given a Drontal to treat. Taco weighed 22.7 pounds as of 9/25/24. Overall, he's a healthy boy ready to start his new life!
If interested in giving Taco his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Taco's adoption fee will be $300 to help cover the cost of his vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Taco based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for him, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.

More about this rescue
We are a small rescue started in September 2004. To date, we have adopted out over 1,000 dogs and cats who may not have had a second chance. We rescue the majority of our pets from kill shelters and have them thoroughly vetted prior to going to their new homes. All of our pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm checked(dogs) and dewormed. We also microchip our dogs so that they can always find their way home. Big and small, we work to rehome them all. We are always in need of donations so if you can help us to help our pets, please contact us! The more people who get involved, the more pets that we can save! You can also see our pets and/or fill out our adoption application on www.petfinder.com. We look forward to hearing from you and making that "forever match"!
