Maeve is searching for a loving home. Though she may seem shy at first, this gentle soul warms up quickly to those she trusts. With a heart full of love and a playful spirit, Maeve is eager to explore the world with her new best friend.

Maeve loves splooting in the grass and will patiently wait by your side while you work or watch TV. She`s a laid back girl once she feels safe with you. Maeve needs time to decompress from the stress of the shelter, but her sweet demeanor will warm your home.

Maeve is very easy to walk, very housetrained and loves to be by your side. She gives the cutest paw shakes too!

While her past remains a mystery, one thing is certain: she`s ready to embrace a brighter future with a loving family willing to give her a forever home.

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note, Adoption and Pet Resource Center lines close at 6:00 p.m. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year.
