My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a furry companion who is not only adorable but also affectionate and house-trained? Look no further! Introducing Nectar, a delightful 5-year-old female Rat Terrier who is ready to find her forever home.

Nectar weighs in at a petite 12 lbs, making her the perfect size for snuggling on the couch or accompanying you on a stroll around the neighborhood. This sweet girl has a heart full of love and is eager to share it with her new family.

Nectar's journey began on a local naval base, where she was found wandering for over a month. She initially had many horse fly bites and a couple small wounds. She is healing perfectly but you will see some scars reflecting her time alone- a part of her story. Despite her challenging circumstances, she has remained a resilient and happy girl. Now in a loving foster home, Nectar has shown her adaptability and charm. She gets along wonderfully with two children and even cats, proving that she is a social butterfly ready to fit into any family dynamic.

One of the biggest advantages of adopting Nectar is that she is house-trained! This means less time worrying about accidents and more time enjoying the love and companionship she brings into your life.

Nectar thrives on interaction and affection. She loves being around people and other pets. Her friendly nature makes her the perfect addition to any home.

With her experience living with children and cats, Nectar is an ideal candidate for families looking to adopt a loving pet. She is gentle and patient, ensuring that she will become a beloved member of your household in no time.

Additional adoption info

For Pet's Sake Rescue wants to insure that every animal goes to a forever home that can provide their every need including future medical care should they ever need it. For this reason, we ask each person interested in adopting to complete an application. The application requests information about the potential family including their home and occupants, as well as requests a vet references. If you do not have a vet reference, please contact us directly at adoptions@forpetssakerescue.org. During Covid-19 our home visits are changed to a video chat to insure safety of the animal.

We reserve the right to refuse an adoption. Most often times we know these animals on a personal level and can foresee it not being a good match for them though there are times when we have to refuse an adoption if there is a lack of comfort with the party.

Required: Completed application, photo ID with current address or an article of mail going to your current address in your name, and home video chat. We do not waive this process for anyone.

Adoption fees can be paid after you are given an approval. Invoices are emailed via PayPal. The deposit or transport fee holds your pet. Adoption fees are not refundable if you change your mind. Please be sure!

Do not complete an application if you are not sure you want a pet.

More about this rescue

For Pet's Sake Rescue is currently based in Long Beach, Mississippi.

This rescue specializes in feline rescues though occasionally take in miniature pigs and canines. Our goal is to provide strays and abused animals a safe haven to heal, become adoptable, and get a true chance at the life they deserve.

Our rescue focuses in healing animals and teaching them pet-like behaviors during their time with us. We spend time with each furbaby individually to learn their personality and make sure they are matched with the right family.
