My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Meet Dalton, a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix

Meet Dalton, a 4 month old Chiweenie - one out of three puppies. The puppies are currently enjoying their foster home on the ranch but would like to move on to their permanent homes.

Although your heart might melt, remember to consult with your brain too before you decide to adopt a puppy. While they are adorable and a lot of fun, puppies are a lot of work and will turn into adults (after going through their teenage years)! We want our adopters to be ready to commit for the life of the dog.

Schedule is everything! Do you have the schedule for housetraining and socializing a puppy: You will need to be able to take the puppy out for potty breaks every 3 hours. If you work a full day, a mid-day walk is not enough. In addition, you will need lots of time to spend with your pup playing and socializing.

More about this rescue

California Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue group dedicated to the rescue of homeless animals from county shelters and out in the streets, and control of the population thru diligent spaying and neutering. We consist of a group of volunteers who rescue animals, foster them in our homes and place them up for adoption.
Although we are a non-profit corporation, in practicality, we are just a handful of dedicated animal-loving volunteers. We all have jobs, families and busy lives, but we’re all committed to saving animals. Often we stay up nights bottle feeding kittens, or nursing sick or injured animals or making trips to the emergency vet.

Since we operate out of our own homes, our space is very limited so we limit our focus to rescuing animals in dire need. During spring and summer, we have seasonal foster parents that help us during the busiest times, taking in litters of tiny sick kittens or pregnant momcats. We always need more fosters so please contact us if you’re interested in fostering! Remember even Superman had foster parents.
