For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
Gnome came to us because of a loss of housing for his entire family, and he's trying hard to figure out this big, new world.
He previously lived with many dogs, but had almost no exposure to people, so he's very hesitant when first meeting someone new. Once he realizes you are safe, he wants lots of attention, and would love to be pet and cuddled for hours. He's very unsure on a leash, and can get easily overwhelmed, and that's even just walking in our quiet fields. He would be very stressed by a busy neighborhood. He's learning new things quickly, and thrives on positive rewards of attention and food.
Gnome needs a calm home with lots of patience, willing to work on toilet training, and help him learn the world is safe and filled with good experiences! He's playful with other dogs, and would probably do well in a home with a canine playmate. He has no exposure to cats or children, and due to his hesitation with new experiences, he would probably do best without young kids or cats. Once settle, he greets you with lots of energy and wants your attention. We expect than an interested adopter will need to come meet with Gnome more than once before he'd be comfortable going home with a new person.
A 5-week Good Manners training course, or a private consultation with a behavior specialist, is included in Gnome's $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about him, and to determine if you should meet Gnome.
